[Review] fade – Kings of Dawn

fade - Kings of Dawn Cover

If you are a fan of music coming from Japan, but having obvious western influences, then “Fade” will definitely be the right choice for you.
The band consisting of 5 members, who are American, Japanese and Japanese with American nationality, released their 6th Album “Kings Of Dawn” in a special EU Version at 23rd of December 2011.

The mini album includes 7 Tracks, of which one is a Cover of Bon Jovi’s famous “Livin’ on a Prayer” and one a special unplugged version of one of Fade’s first songs called “Face”.
With “Cosmicalism” the album includes one track totally in Japanese, whereas the other tracks all have English lyrics.
It’s a mixture of heavy tunes combined with pretty rough lyrics, which should be very welcome to fans of bands like Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bon Jovi or Incubus.
Black Hearts & Dollar Signs” is Fade’s original version of a song called “One Reason”, which was the opening title for an anime called “Deadman Wonderland” – so don’t get surprised if it sounds familiar to you.

The EU version of “Kings Of Dawn” was only available on Itunes, since the physical version is only available in Japan – and includes “Relax”, a cover version of a Frankie Goes To Hollywood song as a 6th track, instead of “Livin’ on a Prayer”.
The bonus track “Face” is the only real ballad on this album, so if you’re looking for something to relax to, this is probably not the right thing for you.
– But if you’re searching for the right tune for a little house party or if you’re just a fan of heavier tunes “Kings Of Dawn” will be what your ears are longing for.

If the American singer of the band, Jon Underdown, sounds or seems familiar to you as well, it may be due to the fact that he is also a part of Gackt’s “Yellow Fried Chickenz”, who finished their “Show Your Soul World Tour” not so long ago.
